Jillian and Rob

There are so many wonderful things that I can say about Jillian and Rob. They have a beautiful baby girl who they adore, they are very sweet together and they love dogs! I am a huge dog lover and it thrilled me to no end that their two French Bulldogs would be part of the wedding. The wedding party was amazing to work with and we had a great time working with them. What entire wedding party would agree to eat hotdogs on demand? This one! It was a beautiful wedding and I can honestly say that I was so sad to see the night end...

Whenever we shoot in Manhattan, no one ever pays us any attention. Check out the tourist paparazzi...

Jen and Pete's Engagement Shoot!

Jen and Pete are so cute, I can't stand it. Adorable, fun to be with and all around great picture takers! We began our shoot at the Summit Arboretum. It is so beautiful there and completely lends itself to photographing two people in love. We loved spending time with them and we can't wait for their wedding in October!

Lindsey and Owen's Engagement Shoot

How adorable are these two? Totally giggly, fun and crazy in love. Lindsey and Owen just have "IT". We began our shoot at Fordham Law School where they met and fell in love. We quickly headed to the Museum of Natural History before it closed. What two people could have been more perfect for this shoot? Jason and I had never shot at the Museum before and Lindsey and Owen were willing to try ANYTHING, even if the request was slightly strange (like the wooly mammoth puppets kissing--don't ask). Once we were kicked out of the Museum, we headed over to Central Park to catch some of that delicious summer light. We had the best time shooting with Lindsey and Owen and if this engagement session is anything like their upcoming Bridgehampton wedding, then we are the luckiest photographers around!

Michelle and Dave's Engagement Shoot

We met Michelle and Dave at Washington Square Park to start our engagement session. It was finally a beautiful day after having to cancel our shoot a few times because of the rain. Michele wore this adorable orange dress which was quite a hit with some of the indigenous people who live in the park. What I love about these two is how brave they were and how willing to just throw themselves completely into any situation. When you meet Michelle and Dave you can just tell that they are perfect for each other. We left the park and headed down to the Meat Packing district. We love shooting there and there are endless little spots to capture. Jason and I had a great time shooting with you both and can't wait for your wedding!

Jillian & Rob's Engagement Shoot

Although Jillian and Rob are adorable, there is one person who joined us on our shoot even cuter than the two of them. Their precious baby girl Isabella... The six us of ( Jillian's mom came along to shield Isabella from all those infamous Jamie K make out shots) started our shoot on the Upper East Side where Jillian and Rob lived. In typical New York fashion, Rob's name was still on the intercom of the building even though they moved out over three years ago! After that, we headed to Central Park to complete our shoot. How awesome do they look on that boat??? We had a great day and can't wait for their wedding in August.

Erika and Ron's Wedding

Erika and Ron remind me so much of Jason and I that is uncanny. Erika is the planner, the one who pays attention to every detail (who does that remind you of??). Ron is more quiet but pretty much game for anything as long as it makes Erika happy. Together they are a perfect pair. After being together for 10 years, they are still madly in love. I love watching the two of them together and couldn't wait for their wedding day. Erika looked simply stunning and was completely relaxed throughout the day. Ron and his groomsmen were very good sports and did just about anything I asked them to do. Who could ask for more?

The entire day went off without a hitch and Erika and Ron both beamed as they walked down the aisle to become husband and wife. I am so honored to have been a part of your wedding day and can't wait for our "day after" shoot at the end of July. I adore you both!

Malloree and Matt's Wedding

So, everyone who follows this blog knows that I have a thing for shoes. Shiny, stiletto, bright or vintage, I love them all. Can a pair of shoes reflect the feel of a wedding? In the case of Malloree and Matt, the answer is most certainly yes! I loved every aspect of this wedding. From the the fabulous band (we could have listened to them play all night long) to the gorgeous details, I think it was a perfect night. So much of the bride and groom was incorporated into the vibe of the event that you couldn't help but feel little pieces of them throughout the entire wedding. The ease in which Malloree and Matt love each other is what I will remember most. It was such a pleasure to be a part of this wedding and to work with such an amazing couple.

The band decided that the photographer should crowd surf and the next thing I knew I was carried around the dance floor...

Jennifer and Bill's Wedding

As I told Jennifer, she was the most calm bride I've ever seen and despite the mugginess and rain, she and Bill had an incredible time at their wedding. This was definitely a party crowd as they danced through the entire night! It was a beautiful night and Jennifer and Bill are truly made for each other. I'm so happy they invited me to be part of their special day.

As many of you know, Jason's been working with me full time for a while now. He's an incredible photographer with an awesome eye and continues to work with me at events and on his own. Needless to say, Jason's an integral part of Jamie K Photography. Well, now it's time to make it "official". We're changing the name of Jamie K Photography to...
Well, that's where the contest comes in.

Anyone who can come up with a great, creative name (and we end up using it) will win a free 1 hour photo shoot and all of the images on a DVD!

Amy and Darren's wedding

The second I met Amy and Darren, I knew that we would we were a perfect fit. I was so excited for their NYC wedding at The Tribeca Rooftop, that I couldn't stop talking about it. Well, the day finally arrived and I could have not asked for a more spectacular bride and groom. Amy and Darren are so in love, it is just beautiful to watch. From the first moment they saw one another to the very last dance, they were inseparable. It was hard to take your eyes off of them. I can honestly say that I loved every minute of being at their wedding. Everyone surrounding them was just as wonderful and made our work so easy.

Amy and Darren, I absolutely adore you. You were both amazing to be with yesterday and I will always be so thankful that I was there to capture your wedding day...

Allison's Bat Mitzvah

Well, if there was a party to end the Mitzvah season, it was this one. All I can say is WOW!!!! We started a few days before the party to capture some images of Ally at the beautiful summit arboretum. The party itself was simply magnificent. Check out the detail shots below to catch a glimpse. It was an awesome night and the kids had a spectacular time. Ally's family was so proud of her! It was a spectacular night and I was so happy to be there to celebrate with everyone!

Lia's Bat Mitzvah

In honor of Lia's Twilight themed Bat Mitzvah, I stayed up the night before to watch the movie. I am happy to report that Lia's party was much better than the movie! With red roses and sparkles everywhere ( even on me!) it was a very fun party. I give Lia major credit for coming out into the mist and mud to get some fantastic shots at the end of the day. It was such a great afternoon and a pleasure to work with such a sweet family.

Jeff's Surprise Party

Jeff's 40th surprise party was held at the ridiculously cool The Glass Houses
in the Chelsea Arts district. Jeff's wife Hope, along with event planners A Buvitt All threw an incredible party. One of the more interesting aspects of the party was the, well, I don't know what to call them...the "Chandelier" girls (just see below). I was thrilled to be a part of it.

Robbie's Bar Mitzvah

Matt's Promise is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people affected by terminal illnesses. Our commitment, through select funding of treatment, research, education and support programs, is to advance the fight against these diseases and to assure the most comprehensive, innovative and compassionate care.

So, about two and a half years ago, my friend Robin booked me to shoot her daughter's Bat Mitzvah. The fact that I spent today doing some casual shots of the entire family before the big day is simply crazy. I can't believe that the day has finally come. The perk of being born so close together is that you get to celebrate major life events together. This is the case of Matt and Billy. As their mother mentioned in her speech, they (and their younger brother Adam) are the best of friends. We had a great time at Willie's Bat Mitzvah! The Diva Lounge is a great place to throw a rager...and that's exactly what it was. Willie was a great sport as we dragged him around Montclair at hyper-speed to get some shots in before the party. I definitely have to mention Willie's brother, Adam, who's got the best dance moves out of any 10 year old I've ever seen! This was such a fun family and we really enjoyed working with them. There are so many words I could use to describe this family, but one really sums them up: SWEET! This is the first brother and sister that I have ever met that have never had a fight. Really. Alix's Bat Mitzvah

Beyond Baskettes

Two Fabulous Families. Two Fantastic Parties. Rachel and Matt's Mitzvahs.

How could I write about each one of these parties individually? Both families worked together in coordinating their same day (one day and one evening) parties that included almost all of the same kids and some of the same guests. The crossover worked perfectly and everyone had a great time at both parties. I have to say that both events moved me and I am in awe of how much both sets of parents truly love and adore their children. Rachel's father's speech made me cry (what a shock) and the way Matt's mother absolutely beamed at her son made me cry all over again. I can't say enough about how gorgeous the room at Cedar Hill looked for each party or about the look of delight when the each family saw the room for the first time. Everyone came to party at both events and the dancing went on straight through the day and into the night.

I am really the luckiest person around. Not only do I love what I do, I get to be a part of my client's most happy and meaningful day. It really was such a gift to work with both of these families. I just couldn't adore each of you any more...

Ross and Marc's Bar Mitzvah

Ross and Marc are cousins who celebrated their Bar Mitzvahs together. They seem very close and had an incredible time together. The best word to describe the night would be: RAGER!!! The dance floor was simply full of people all night long. Both families were terrific to work with and we were so happy to be a part of such a beautiful event in honor of two great kids. There were so many spectacular surprises and special attention paid to detail that I could just go on and on and on. I think that I will just let the images speak for themselves...

Fantastic Pregnancy Shoot

I loved being pregnant. It still amazes me that I carried two people all around Manhattan for nine months! We took some photos of me when I was about eight months pregnant, but unfortunately I looked like a beached whale so I won't be posting any of those images here. This is not the case of the beautiful woman we photographed in the images below. I really don't think that I have ever seen a more amazing looking pregnant woman ever! Can't wait to photography the baby when it makes it's arrival...

The Wedding Salon is an elite group of event producers with years of experience producing high-end charity events, private parties, and film premiers. They work directly with the most prestigious media partners, celebrities, and sponsors. So, when they asked if I would speak at their event at Scully and Scully I was thrilled. I love public speaking! I was very in my element speaking to about 50 brides who wanted to know all they could about wedding photography. I loved answering all of their questions and could have gone on and on all night! I now know that I make the funniest faces when I speak. Jason photographed me speaking and I seriously need to consider not talking EVER again. Who makes faces like this???

Neal's Proposal to Pam

Boy meets girl, girl meets boy, boy calls photographer to shoot his proposal! Neal not only wanted to propose in Central Park, he wanted it photographed! So here's how it went down. Neal met Pam near Central Park for a leisurely stroll in 30 degree weather. They walked over to the Bow Bridge where Neal decided to "pose" for a picture using the camera he happened to bring along. When Pam took the camera out of its case, the ring was attached to the strap...

After the shock wore off, we took a quick walk into the park for a few post "Yes" pictures.

Congratulations Pam and Neal...I'm so glad I could be a part of such a momentous event in your lives.

P.S. Your proposal in Central Park sure beats a proposal on the kitchen floor of an old apartment...sorry Jamie.

Candy Coated Chaos

Lexi's Bat Mitzvah

We know that Lexi is seriously into cheer. We hoped that cheer would translate into dance at her party. And it did! Lexi and her friends are awesome dancers and spent the entire night on the dance floor. I loved the sudden outbreaks of cheering for Lexi and how much her friends clearly love her. Favorite moment of the night was Mom and Dad piling into the photo booth with their friends. There was a great feeling in the room and I think that I can safely say that Lexi and her family had a great time! Congratulations Lexi!

Raquel's Bat Mitzvah

Having photographed Raquel prior to her Bat Mitzvah, we knew that working with her would be a breeze. It was a rainy night, but the atmosphere inside was nothing but bright colors and sweet candy. Do any of you know how hard it is to control yourself in a room full or gumballs and rock candy? Needless to say, we focused on Raquel and her great family and truly had a wonderful night. The amazing montage (by my very talented friend Heidi at Heidi Blum Productions) was my favorite moment of the night. I loved watching her mom and dads faces as they see their baby grow up on the big screen. Thinking off all the sweet treats from Raquels party makes me want to go and steal some of Max and Lily's Halloween candy! Think they'll notice?

Zach's Bar Mitzvah

Zach is truly a great kid. He is an old soul and seems wise beyond his years. He was the picture (pardon the pun) of calm on both Friday and Saturday. This family is incredibly close. You can see it in how they interact with one another and how clearly they all love each other. There was nothing but pride beaming off of his parents faces as they watched him up in the chair. It was a perfect afternoon and we were so glad that we got to celebrate with Zach.

There is something really special about doing portraits at the clients home. We met Nicole and her family Saturday afternoon to begin our session on the front lawn of their beautiful home. The entire family looked amazing and very elegant. We had a great time shooting the portraits and could feel how excited everyone was to spend their evening celebrating Nicole. From the minute the cocktail party started to the time the party ended, there was a just a great engery in the air. I loved watching Nicole and her dad dance. She began to tear up and behind my camera I just felt such a surge of emotion. Gets me every time! It was a fabulous night and we loved being a part of it...Congratulations, Nicole!

I always love shooting my friends and their families. Julie is one of my closest friends. I absolutely adore her and knew that we would have a great time taking some casual shots at their home. Haley and Chris

It was a record. The longest engagement shoot we have ever done. I hereby bestow upon Haley and Chris two of the most willing people we have shot with, the trophy for endurance! This was simply an unbelievable shoot. We aimlessly roamed the streets of DUMBO for hours alternating between chatting and stopping to take photos. Every time we scheduled Jen & Steve's engagement shoot, it rained. As we approached their wedding day and I was stalking weather.com, all I saw was RAIN!!! Well, a little hurricane was not going to stop us! We were lucky enough to have cloudy skies for the ceremony, but as we headed down to Asbury Park for our casual shots, the skies darkened and the rain poured down. There was no way we were letting the rain get in the way again--off we went. Jen and Steve are incredible. The rain was nothing but an afterthought. We moved our shoot inside and took amazing pictures. They were all about the pictures and were so incredibly willing to do anything we asked them to do. There were so many moments that made this wedding so special, but watching Jen and Steve and how truly happy they were all day long really stood out for me. Their families and friends were such a pleasure to work with and they truly made us feel like we were part of the family too! Congratulations Jen & Steve!!!

Fighting For A Cure

Over the past few months, I have heard the stories of three women I know who are fighting breast cancer. They are fighting hard and they are winning. All three are an incredible inspiration to me. I wanted to find a way to support them by giving back the best way I know how--through photography. I will be doing three shoots this summer and fall in honor of these three incredible, brave and amazing women. In lieu of payment, I will be donating the cost of the sitting fee and a donation will be made in their names to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

There are so many reasons that we love Stonybrook. The first is that Max and Lily can't wait to get on the bus every morning. The second is Roger Black, the owner of the camp. Roger is the kind of guy who know every kids name and what is going on with him/her at camp. He is incredibly passionate about his camp and works so hard to make sure that all of our kids are safe and happy. My favorite part is that I don't even have to make lunch! Dana and Denis are the most easy going bride and groom that I have ever met. They are funny and smart and just generally great to be around. We walked for hours around Wall Street, The Brooklyn Bridge and ended our shoot in Brooklyn. My favorite shot of the day is one that Jay captured of them standing under a group of numbers that just "happens" to coincide with their 7.18.08 wedding day! We can't wait to celebrate your wedding with you!

Evan and his family came to party and what a party it was!! There was a packed house and not a single space left on the dance floor. With 2 sisters and a brother, there was a lot of sibling love for Evan at his Bar Mitzvah celebration. From the fun games to the Vegas theme, my favorite moment of the night was the mother son dance. What could be bad about paint ball, laser tag, video games and dancing all night? Jacob and his family did it ALL! From the absolutely gorgeous outdoor shots we took after we left the Temple, to the great action shots we took during the party, the entire event was a success. Matt's Promise Event

A few years ago, I met the terrific Jen Wiederkehr-Rothberg. Jen hired me to create a documentary about her late husband, Matt. Matt was only 34 when he passed away from colon cancer. He felt strongly about starting a charity that would benefit young people who were also fighting terminal diseases. Matt's Promise was born from that wish. Please take a minute and check out the Matt's Promise website to learn more about the many ways this charity helps kids in need. Thursdays event honored the amazing group from Darius Goes West. The story of Darius (who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy) and his friends who travel with him across the country to get his wheelchair pimped out on MTV's Pimp My Ride, is simply inspirational. Go onto their website and purchase the DVD. It is awesome!

There were so many special moments from the event, but the performance by SQUEEZE was definitely a highlight! They rocked... Another favorite moment was when LL Cool J showed up to surprise Darius who is a huge fan.

From the live auctions, the incredible Cipriani Wall Street, the emotional speeches and great crowd (we always love seeing friends and familiar faces at the parties we shoot), the evening was a huge success. We loved being a part of it and hope to donate our photography services again next year!

Shooting With Sydney...
